LOCATION:
8483 Hill Street is located within the Ellicott City National Historic district in eastern Howard County. Known locally as Old Ellicott City, the area has been a destination location in Central Maryland since the 1700s. Known for eclectic antique stores, progressive eateries and an historic mill town feel, Ellicott City provides ample amenities with all of the charm. The Main Street commercial district is just one block away.

Old Ellicott City has excellent proximity to many area commuter routes, including US-29, US-40, I-70, MD-100 and the Baltimore Beltway. A number of major employers are nearby in Catonsville, Columbia, the BWI Commercial District, Baltimore and Washington, D.C. According to the Howard County Public Schools website, nearby schools are Veterans Elementary, Ellicott Mills Middle and Howard High. A number of independent and religious schools are also in the area.

The property sits on what is accurately known as Hill Street, approximately 60′ above the creek basin below, and outside of any FEMA flood zones. The home itself was lovingly restored in the late 1990s by the then owners, with careful attention to historic architecture and finish details. A 1998 article from Renovation Style magazine linked below, dating the home to the 1830s, further describes those efforts. The auction provides an opportunity to restore or enhance a structure that has experienced some deferred maintenance over the past few years, creating a finished product any buyer should want.
