604 E. 34th Street is located in the Waverly neighborhood in North Baltimore. Surrounding neighborhoods include Oakenshawe, Guilford, Better Waverly, Ednor Gardens and Pen Lucy. Waverly has been a well-known and well-loved neighborhood for generations of Baltimoreans. The community has over one hundred years of history, and features an array of home types and sizes that reflect that heritage. Historically, the neighborhood was known as being homogenous with Memorial Stadium, providing fans and visitors an array of restaurants, bars and retail stores on their way to and from the Stadium. In more recent years, the Waverly Farmer’s Market has been a significant neighborhood attraction, in addition to the variety of shopping and dining that appears along Greenmount Avenue. Proximity to several Baltimore Universities as well as Downtown has provided a stable employment base in the area. Over the past year, the neighborhood has received publicity in conjunction with retail development, including the arrival of Red Emma’s and the development of The Old Waverly Hall. The home sits just one block west of the Waverly Elementary/Middle School, which was completed about 8 years ago. The home is located within the Waverly Historic District, providing an opportunity for CHAP tax credits.
