2701 Barclay Street is located in the Harwood neighborhood in North Baltimore. Surrounding neighborhoods include Charles Village, Abell, Better Waverly and Barclay. Johns Hopkins University is approximately one-half mile west. Penn Station is a little over one mile south. Surrounding properties are comprised predominantly of rowhomes and attached commercial and mixed-use buildings.
The area has seen significant development over the past couple of decades. New buildings throughout the Johns Hopkins campus have and continue to be built, with Station North and nearby Remington also receiving a lot of attention for major projects. Old Goucher, Barclay, Harwood and Better Waverly have also seen new buildings and robust revitalization, but going about it more quietly. Major projects along Greenmount Avenue, North Avenue and 25th Street highlight much of the activity, with new and fully renovated townhomes through the neighborhood.
